How to Save Money When Buying a Computer
- October 14, 2014
As we know, computers now have become an essential part of most of our lives. Unfortunately, the price of this technology may cause you to either keep a computer that can barely function anymore or go without. Here are some tips that you can consider if you are going to buy a new computer sometime in the near future, it doesn’t have to be as expensive as you may think.
The first tip is to really decide what you need and want the computer for. As much as you may want the best computer on the market, if you don’t use your computer for much and find yourself just browsing the internet, take a second look at the computer you want. You may even want to consider getting a tablet or iPad because they will save you thousands. However, if you’re looking for a more expensive computer, you may want to contemplate looking for a refurbished one. A refurbished computer can be comparable to a new one but can cost a lot less money for you. See if this may be an option for you and if it is, you may end up with quite a bit of extra money in your pocket.
The other option is that you can look into updating or upgrading your current computer. If you find that you’re just wanting to purchase a new computer because yours is running slow, take into a shop and see if you can upgrade the RAM or take the time to go through it and delete any programs or large files that you may not be using anymore. If that is not an option, make sure that you buy at the right time. Keep your eye-out for sales and if there are no sales, you can also look for coupons or rebates online.
Another major expense is the software that you may want to purchase along with the computer. The easiest suggestion is to not buy any but take a look at some of these options rather than splurging on expensive ones. If you’re buying an apple computer, you should look into not buying Microsoft Office and instead you could use Google Docs or OpenOffice, these alternate programs allow you to save files in Microsoft form. Another optionally program, if you’re thinking about purchasing Photoshop, is the program Gimp, this is a very similar program that will allow you to save even more money.
The last tip is looking into buying a slightly older model, that way you can still get an excellent computer for a lot cheaper. Buying a computer doesn’t have to be an expensive, taunting task if you know where you can save money.
